The Life-Based Business Mentality

If you’re tired of trying to achieve the perfect work-life balance, you’ve come to the right place. It’s no secret there is no such thing. I mean, how could there be? When you place your personal life on one side of the scale and your professional life on the other, you’re left hopping back and forth from one side to the other. This inevitably creates a rocking, swaying, unsustainably dizzying commute that you must endure almost daily, leaving you thankful for the respite of the weekend and dreading the week to come. 

There is a better way, and it’s about more than just finding a side gig. (That may or may not be part of your plan!) It involves setting goals and budgets, calculating hours and dollars, making schedules and plans and – perhaps most importantly – sticking to them. 

The Life-Based Business mentality is simply about letting go of traditional ideas of success. (Read: Not everyone wants a corner office and a six-figure salary.) It’s about deciding what your life goals really look like. (For example, taking a month off each year to travel or clocking out every day at 3 p.m. when your kids get off the bus.) Finally, it’s about making a practical and sustainable plan that allows you to accomplish those goals. (Disclaimer: This usually happens incrementally, not all at once.)
